These neighborhoods were often part of the cities during the period. For example, Bloomingdale was a large city, which was located on the west side of the Mississippi River.When people lived in Bloomingdale, they would need some tutoring time. Teachers or tutors for these schools took care of this. Students who attended these schools were taught by a real life teacher who lived nearby. The student would have to pay tuition fees for each lesson that was given to them.Tutors from the districts which the tutors worked to take care of the students. The District for instance, had tutors for black students as well.Teachers hired tutors for other districts also had to do this. This was a way to keep the costs down. It was just common sense.By the beginning of the twentieth century, tutoring services were found in all sorts of places including large and small towns in Illinois. People found these services particularly important during times when some of the public schools were closed.After the war, when a lot of people settled in Bloomingdale, the city made sure it had tutors for all children in the district. They were teachers who were part of the community and that were also teachers in public schools. This was done to ensure that everyone who was interested in learning could get an education and to make sure that their kids did not get left behind.Today, tutoring is done through organizations and institutions that are set up to help children all over the world. This has helped to raise the standard of education in many countries. Whether it is in Bloomingdale or somewhere else, children now get the same quality of education.When you live in Bloomingdale, you might be surprised to see the people you see every day, but then you are m ore likely to appreciate their presence. They have a profound effect on you as a person. You will want to remember what your tutors were like and why you feel the way you do about them today.
